Watermelon sales today are going toward seedless for chain stores, and still big seeded ones for all old timers with older customer base. With younger customers asking more and more for seedless melons. We hear all the time can’t sell seedless melon, only to have asking later can you get me any of those seedless melons.
Our watermelon crop starts in Punta Gorda area around last week April- first week of May. After that your pushing it with springs rains. So time to move farther north and inland of Florida..
By time we hit June 10 time frame we have started lite production at our farms in north Georgia and southern South Carolina area. Which pull from for about a month, then its time for NC farmers, and help sell their crops.
